PRENEU, a South Korean unmanned aerial vehicle company, has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with BEI Lab, a company specializing in lithium metal batteries (LMB) to localize and commercialize batteries, which are core components of drones.
The agreement ceremony was held at the headquarters of PRENEU on the 9th, attended by key officials such as PRENEU CEO Lee Jong-kyung and CEO Bae Chang-deuk of BEI Lab.
The agreement was designed to localize batteries for drones and strengthen drone performance by combining PRENEU`s drone manufacturing technology and BEI Lab's lithium metal battery development technology with drone batteries that were dependent on Chinese products due to difficulties in price competitiveness and securing suppliers.
PRENEU has its own technology through software development and IT technology convergence, as well as hardware manufacturing of drones. In recognition of the excellence of this technology, it has recently succeeded in attracting an investment of 15 billion won in Series B, revitalizing the domestic drone market.
As the only next-generation lithium metal battery development and manufacturing company in Korea, BEI Lab is expected to contribute greatly to improving the performance of drones and weapons for defense by improving problems and overcoming limitations through innovative materials and coating technologies.
"We will work hard to lay the groundwork for the development of the domestic and foreign drone industry by developing high-performance localized batteries in the drone market, which has relied only on Chinese batteries," said Lee Jong-kyung, CEO of PRENEU.
